As of 23 December 2021, the Tax Collector for the Town of Danby is now in possession of the Tax Roll and Warrant for 2022 Property Taxes.
Due to continued COVID concerns, we strongly encourage contactless payment. In addition, if you must pay your taxes in person, an appointment is required. You may book an appointment online, via email, or by phone. Tax collection hours are Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. excluding holidays, BY APPOINTMENT.

Note that tax bills will be mailed out beginning 27 December 2021. If your property taxes are payed through your mortgage/escrow account, the bill is sent directly to your bank. Property Owners are responsible for tax payments even if they did not receive their tax bill. If you live or own a residence in Danby and do not receive your tax bill, please call or email the Tax Collector’s Office.
Taxes must be paid on or before January 31 to avoid late fees. Interest equal to 1% of the unpaid balance will be added to your total due on February 1, an additional 1% will be added on March 1. Upon returning unpaid taxes to Tompkins County after April 1, an additional fee of five percent (5%) will be added plus interest at the rate of one percent (1%).
You have the option to pay your bill in full or in two installments:
- The first installment payment includes a 2.5% service charge. Payment goes to the Danby Tax Collector on or before 31 January 2022.
- The second installment is paid to Tompkins County on or before 1 July 2022.
