Looking for your property tax bill or a tax receipt?
Call our office at 607-277-4788 - we'll get your bill and/or receipt right out to you.
The Danby Tax Collector will begin accepting 2026 Property Tax payments on January 1, 2026.
HOW TO PAY:
Payments can be made via check, credit card, or cash. Payments can be mailed, dropped off at Town Hall in person, or put in the 24-hour-locked dropbox at Town Hall. Please see below for details.
TOWN HALL TAX COLLECTION HOURS:
January 1- February 2, 2026 (penalty free period): Mondays – Fridays 11 AM- 4PM
February 3-March 31, 2026 (1st & 2nd penalty period): Monday – Friday 11 AM- 4 PM
Mailed property tax payments postmarked April 1, 2026 or later will be returned. Those payments will be owed to Tompkins County.
Call Tompkins County Finance Department at (607-274-5545)
after mid-April to discuss delinquent tax bills.
January–March
Tax bills are mailed out the last week in December. Those with a mortgage/escrow, bills are mailed directly to your bank.
Full payments without any late fees, OR, first installment payments are due February 2. Payments with late fees are accepted through March 31.

April–July
After April 1, the Town reconciles all payments received and transfers collections to Tompkins County Finance Department. Please call 607-274-5545 for questions or concerns about late payments or second installments.
Anyone who feels that their assessment is unfair should contact the Tompkins County Assessment Office at 607-274-5517 or by completing the grievance form.
