Local Public Cemeteries in Danby
There are two active public cemeteries in Danby, with historical significance as well as plots available for purchase.
The Danby Rural Cemetery, located at 14 Curtis Road, was incorporated in 1871. About 1,800 individuals are buried there now, but the cemetery has expanded to cover eight acres, with many additional plots for sale. You can read more about the cemetery here. The West Danby Cemetery, located on Valley View Road, is also a public cemetery with about 500 graves on a one-acre plot. You can learn more by contacting Sandra Fish, the President of the West Danby Cemetery Association, at wmcfish@aol.com.
Both cemeteries need your help! All cemetery leadership and caretaking is done by volunteers, and new energy is needed urgently.
