Central Danby Hamlet Conversation Evening

25 May @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Town Planning office is hosting this meeting to connect with residents about the future of Danby and, in particular Danby’s Hamlets. This gathering will focus on Central Danby, and a similar meeting will happen the preceding evening at the West Danby Fire Hall focused on West Danby. The goal of the event is to get together with neighbors and friends, new and old, to discuss the values, hopes, and needs that will drive the future of the Hamlets. The Planning Office is working on grants that could be helpful to improving the Hamlets in ways that support the future of the community, but we need to hear from you about what values are most important. In the last two years we have started a program to fix up homes in need of repair and owned by low income households, won funds to study future wastewater infrastructure potential, and also won a grant for a trail improvement project at Dotson Park with the help of Tompkins County, the Environmental Facilities Corporation, and New York State Community Development Block Grants.

Now is the time to decide what we will seek funding for in 2023.

The Town Planner will give a short presentation and then lead group activities that will be instrumental in guiding future work implementing the comprehensive plan. This is a family friendly event!
We’re hoping to provide coffee, tea, and some light snacks, it would be lovely if folks brought something tasty to share but not at all necessary.

The Town of Danby sits on the traditional & ancestral land of the Gayogoho:no’ (Cayuga Nation), one of the five nations to first form the Haudenosaunee. Indigenous peoples were largely forced out of Upstate New York by the Sullivan-Clinton Expedition in 1779. The land that would become the Town of Danby was a part of the Watkins and Flint Purchase, a 336,380 acre patent granted by New York State to numerous eastern investors in 1794.
