Timber Harvests

Pursuant to the Town of Danby Timber Harvest Local Law #6 of 2025, any person harvesting more than 10 MBF (ten thousand board feet) of timber, 20 cords of firewood, 40 tons pulpwood or combination thereof within a 12-month period and using public roads within the Town of Danby to transport these forest products is required to have a Timber Harvest Permit. Exemptions and other requirements are listed on page 3 of the permit application.

The Town will have 10 business days after receipt of the application to approve or deny the application.
The Danby Town Highway Superintendent must be called 72 hours prior to hauling onto a highway the initial time. It shall be the property owner’s responsibility to secure all other permits that may be required. The property owner and harvester will be jointly responsible for
meeting the regulations of the Town of Danby Timber Harvest Local Law #6 of 2025. Timber harvest operations shall not begin sooner than five business days after the permit receipt date.
