Danby Town Library

The Danby community library is located in Town Hall with in-person browsing hours on Tuesday 1-3pm, Thursday 10am - 12pm, and Saturday 10am - 12pm.

On-line ordering and contact free pick-up is also available. Instructions below:

  1. Visit https://cloud.collectorz.com/201255/books  This will allow you to see all the items available in the Danby library.  In the upper right corner of the 1st screen there is a group of 4 boxes; this allows you to change back and forth between movie and book listings. The cutoff for requests will be Tuesday of each week.  Pick up will be on Thursdays and Saturdays, from 10am-12noon.

  2. Once you have decided on your requests go to click here.    This will be the Danby Community Library Request Form. Once this is filled out and submitted, we will process your request for pick-up. Any correspondence about the requests can be sent to dclbookstogo@gmail.com

  3. Your items will be labelled, bagged and placed on top of the outdoor Book Drop at the Town Hall entrance on Thursday morning from 10am-12noon and on Saturday morning from 10am-12noon.

  4. When returning books please place back in the labelled bag you originally received and put in the outdoor Book Drop at the Town Hall.  Staff will retrieve items while wearing gloves and place in a bag if they are not returned in the original bag.  The bag will be timed and dated, placed in a crate and will be untouched for a minimum of 72 hours (as adopted by the Tompkins County Public Library per recommendations by the American Library Association); at that time items will be wiped down and made available for circulation.

The library will resume rotating collections from the Tompkins County Public Library in September 2021. These will include large type adult fiction and mysteries. A fairly recent addition to our holdings are puzzles. We also have a large collection of DVDs.

The Town of Danby sits on the traditional & ancestral land of the Gayogoho:no’ (Cayuga Nation), one of the five nations to first form the Haudenosaunee. Indigenous peoples were largely forced out of Upstate New York by the Sullivan-Clinton Expedition in 1779. The land that would become the Town of Danby was a part of the Watkins and Flint Purchase, a 336,380 acre patent granted by New York State to numerous eastern investors in 1794.
