Seeking Input on Updated DRAFT 2023 Noise Law

Supervisor Gagnon explains how the noise issue is resurfacing this year: “Last fall, Warren Cross, a Cornellian with relevant expertise in acoustics, agreed to undertake a review of how the noise issue has been handled by others. What works and what does not? His report to the Town Board was expected in late 2022. He and I agreed that bringing the matter up during the holiday period was not a good idea, though.   “Rather than try to convey the huge diversity of ways this has been dealt with along with what worked and did not, Warren instead offered a draft noise law based on his conclusions. That was sent to the Town Board around the time of the first meeting in March and was to be the basis for a dialog with Warren at the second meeting on March 22. I will report next month what the Board decided to do next.” At the 22 March Meeting, the Town Board also passed Resolution […]

The Town of Danby sits on the traditional & ancestral land of the Gayogoho:no’ (Cayuga Nation), one of the five nations to first form the Haudenosaunee. Indigenous peoples were largely forced out of Upstate New York by the Sullivan-Clinton Expedition in 1779. The land that would become the Town of Danby was a part of the Watkins and Flint Purchase, a 336,380 acre patent granted by New York State to numerous eastern investors in 1794.
